Strategic Planning:
Libraries in Transition develops Strategic Plans for libraries by:

  • reviewing current strategic plans and follow up actions
  • conducting extensive community consultations
  • leading visioning sessions with the Library Board and staff
  • researching library trends and comparator best practices
  • reviewing the library’s state of readiness for change
  • creating strategic directions and action plans to achieve them.


Services and Operational Reviews:
Libraries in Transition

  • conducts operational reviews for customer services, technical services and collection development processes
  • reviews and recommends relevant performance indicators
  • conducts needs assessments, incorporating a variety of stakeholders' consultations
  • determines what already works well within the organization (SWOT) and allies these elements with new and different ideas
  • investigates traditional and non traditional options for library service delivery
  • develops annual action plans


Master Plan Development:
Libraries in Transition builds on extensive community consultations, trends analyses, political and community environmental overviews as well as reviews of services, operations and facilities to create long range Master Plans.


Facility Planning:
Libraries in Transition reviews and critiques current facility plans and layouts, evaluates and coordinates the research and consultative processes that lead to the creation of a Library Building Program
